SMARTAURA PRIVATE LIMITED ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have, when you visit our website, use the SMARTAURA app, or use our WLC water level controller and tank sensor.

We handle personal data in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Information We Collect

Account information

• Your name, email address and mobile number
• Your Google account ID and email, if you sign in with Google
• Your delivery and installation address when you buy from us

Signing in

We sign you in with a one-time code sent by SMS. Our SMS provider receives only your mobile number and the code.

Support requests

When you ask us to call you back on the website or raise a request in the app, we collect your name, mobile number, the topic and your message.

Device information

When you use WLC, the controller and tank sensor send us:

• Tank level readings, and pump on/off and run-time history
• The tank sensor's battery level and signal strength
• Firmware versions and device identifiers
• The name of your Wi-Fi network (SSID)

Your Wi-Fi password is passed to your device during setup or when you change Wi-Fi. We never store it.

App permissions

• Bluetooth: to set up your devices and control them when the internet is down
• Camera: to scan the QR code on the controller
• Location: only on older Android versions, which require it for Bluetooth scanning. We never store your location.
• Notifications: if you allow them, to send you alerts about your water system

Website information

• Your IP address, used for up to 1 hour to stop spam on our forms. It is not stored with your request.
• If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 collects usage data such as pages visited, how you arrived and your device type, to help us improve the site. See our Cookie Policy.

How We Use Your Information

• Running your system: to show your tank level, run the pump and send you alerts
• Customer service: to call you back, install your kit and provide technical support
• Orders and warranty: to process purchases, installation and warranty claims
• Product improvement: to understand how our products work in real homes and make them better
• Security: to protect your account and our services from misuse
• Legal compliance: to meet our obligations under applicable law

Service Providers and Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with:

• SMS provider: to deliver your sign-in codes
• Google: to sign you in, if you choose Google sign-in
• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: to deliver app notifications, if you allow them. It receives a notification token for your phone.
• Google Analytics: to measure how our website is used, only if you accept analytics cookies
• Our hosting provider: which runs our servers in India
• Legal requirements: when required by law or to protect our rights and safety
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets

Sharing a device with others

If you share a device with family members, they can see its status, including the Wi-Fi network name, and control it. You can see the email and mobile number of the people you share with.

Data Security

• Encrypted connections between the app, your devices and our servers
• An encrypted wireless link between the tank sensor and the controller
• Secure sign-in with one-time codes and short-lived access tokens
• Access to personal information limited to people who need it

Where Your Data Is Stored

Your information is stored and processed on servers located in India.

Data Retention

• Your account and device history are kept while your account is active, and afterwards as long as needed for support, warranty and legal reasons.
• Support request history is kept as a permanent service record, so we can help you with any past issue.

Your Rights and Choices

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:

• Access: ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: ask us to correct or update inaccurate information
• Deletion: ask us to delete your personal data, except where we must keep it by law
• Withdraw consent: stop using our services and withdraw your consent at any time
• Notifications: turn app notifications off in your phone's settings
